The SDF is Bhutan’s daily tourism levy that contributes to national development and sustainability initiatives. SDF funds support areas including education, healthcare, environmental conservation, cultural preservation, infrastructure, tourism development and local economic opportunities. For most international visitors, the Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) is USD 100 per adult per night. Children aged 6 to under 12 pay USD 50 per night, while children under six are exempt. Indian nationals have a separate SDF rate of INR 1200 per adult per night. A one-time USD 40 visa application fee also applies to visitors who require a visa.
